Lenetra King has more than 15 years experience as a C Suite executive where she led significant people, culture and operational turnarounds in a variety of settings including academic medical centers, community and tertiary/quaternary hospitals. Having worked in both for profit and not for profit companies, Lenetra’s leadership is credited with improvements in employee engagement, patient and consumer experience, quality, and margin impact initiatives in hospitals around the country.
She is founder of Watch Me EXCEL®, a leadership development firm that works in a pioneering way with organizations to deeply engage, promote and retain exceptional executive talent, especially from underrepresented populations. As a certified practitioner of Hogan and Everything DiSC, Lenetra uses several frameworks to help executives maximize leadership performance so they can drive results for their organizations.
In early 2022, she was appointed Executive In Residence at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Department of Health Services Administration. Lenetra is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Her community trustee interests include healthcare equity, youth development and education. Additionally, she is author of Unwritten Insights: A Career Playbook for Leaders of Color, to be released in 2023.
Lenetra received a B.S. degree from Florida A&M University, a Master of Science in Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and a Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst University.
She and her family live in Fort Worth and enjoy being involved in her son’s academic and extracurricular activities. They are a college football house divided – Lenetra cheers for the Alabama Crimson Tide and her husband and son cheer on the LSU Tigers. They all enjoy rooting for the New Orleans Saints !
